Comments on: The Hagersville subdivision is one of those lines that I have had only a few chances to catch trains on in daylight. While I have seen this push and pull move a couple of times at the yard I have never actually followed them. In Cainsville at Brantford’s east end there is an industrial park with a couple of industries that receive regular service. Due to the distance from the yard and with no run around track at Cainsville CN operates the job with a locomotive on each end. Here the train is seen punching through plowed snow at a little used crossing near mile 32. The first few car will go to Blastech Rail Services, where railcars are refurbished, while the remaining centre beams will go to a large lumber yard just beyond Regional Road 18. Trailing unit GP9RM 4028 will remain on the main until it is needed for the return trip with a handful of empty lumber cars.

Thanks everyone. I remember one time seeing a van in the yard which I assume was for aiding in the back up move but guessing it wasn't a big win for the crew as it disappeared not long after and never returned.

Prior to CN taking back the Hagersville Sub this job was solely a single unit train. They would lead down with the locomotive like this and then a crew member would have to ride the shove back to the station. I know this is a much more preferred way to operate for the crews though.
