Comments on: The late evening hours on the night of the Summer Solstice in North Waterloo find GEXR 584 creeping slowly north on the Waterloo Spur towards Elmira with three tank cars. They are passing by the St Jacobs Market and right behind me on the east side of the tracks lies the Max’s Sports World facilitate where Waterloo Central hopes to add a new stop for their tourist train in 2019!
Glad I got this shot! As of this posting (December 2018), the Waterloo Region is said to have resonantly acquired all 14 LRVs for it’s LRT system and now the LRT is entering its serious stages of testing as the region hopes to have it open and ready for service in Spring 2019. Due to the fact that 3 miles of the Light Rail Transit route is shared with the Waterloo Spur, all freight traffic on the Waterloo Spur is now permanently restricted to run northbound between 23:00 and 24:00 and southbound between 03:00 and 04:00 due to the intensity of the Light Rail service during the day. With that, the chances of ever catching a freight on the Waterloo Spur in any type of daylight are now next to impossible. Time was 20:45

Graydon, you're thinking too hard on this buddy. Just chill :) Wait to see what happens - what RLK2211 stated is the truth today.

And remember, perhaps the crew could sit at Regina St waiting for a signal onto the LRT, so they can go up anytime they want, just won't be able to enter the LRT portion until ION allows it.

The LRT isn't in service yet :)

Posted a shot for you young man, Merry Christmas :)

Ok Steve well I may have exaggerated a bit in the title but as you yourself mentioned in an earlier post, the window is said to stand between 23:00 and 04:00 once the LRT is open so you get the idea right that CN will try to make it northbound before 24:00 to make sure they can make it back south before 04:00? Especially when they also have to make the odd stop at fairway on the southbound run?

Thanks Jay! Probably my best shot of them all! Hopefully some day we’ll see your shot on here!

@RLK2211 just from what I have heard lately, I was told 23-24:00 will be the window for northbound freights once LRT is operating and 03:00-04:00 for southbound. I may be wrong but that’s what rumor has been saying. I guess we’ll know forsure this spring.
