<title>Comments on: The north-east corner of Yonge and Dundas has traditionally been a magnet for shooting streetcars over the years, both due to its proximity to the Eaton Centre, the busy Yonge-Dundas Square tourist destination, and being a transfer point to/from the Dundas Subway Station on the Yonge line just below.Here&#8217;s the 2006 view of what the location looked like: TTC CLRV 4174 on the 505 Dundas loads passengers in front of the large blue construction hoarding that had been erected along the NE corner where the old Brown Derby Tavern building once was (it had been renovated to house various commercial shops in the 70&#8242;s). It was demolished a few years earlier for a new grand commercial development known at the time as &#8220;Metropolis&#8221;, since renamed &#8220;10 Dundas East&#8221; and now &#8220;The Tenor&#8221;.The eastern potion was built over and around the old Ryerson University parking garage and bookstore. The university green-lit the development over their property in exchange for being allowed to use the movie theatres inside the AMC theatre as lecture halls for holding classes during the afternoons and off-peak hours. Just flash your handy-dandy Ryerson ID to get in, but the fun ended there as there weren&#8217;t any movies playing during the off-hours. Some shops started opening during 2007 when most of the building was nearing completion.

Another sign of the times: this view pre-dates any Google Streetview images showing the construction and big blue hoarding.</title>
