<title>Comments on: The old Mount Albert passenger station was closed to business in the mid 1960s. It was then converted to an office and meeting place for work crews along the line. In 1977 it was moved to Cannington Community Center and is now preserved; strangely enough with Cannington namesigns and not Mount Albert.
It is a wonder the station survived. When I visited on this day it was thoroughly trashed by vandals over the years. Inside and out. While I was there a northbound freight happened upon the scene, led by CN 9585. Nice to see the station was a survivor. You can see a bit on the left how much it had been damaged. It is a wonder it was not torched.</title>
