Comments on: The old Renfrew CN station. It is gone now, although I have no information on its’ demise. As you can tell from your photo, CN erected one of their 'classic' maintenance sheds therefore excusing the need to keep the station. I don't believe any attempts were made to save it, being early 80s in your photo I would assume no one then would have an idea of how to repurpose a station. I believe by 1986 the station was gone. A fellow photographer and also keen station enthusiast Jeff Henricks had shared a photo with me some 20 years ago. His was from 1985, so I assume sometime after that it was demolished looking even more worn than shown in your photo Arnold. Nonetheless, the line came out by 1990. Today, if you use Google Maps (satellite view) you will see the former station grounds are all homes now. The giveaway is the factory was still standing, opposite side of the street just to the left of the school (and out of view in your photo). Sad, that a lot of historical lines, stations etc have mostly been lost in the Ottawa Valley. Plaques just don't quite 'cut it's for me as does exploring a saved station or walking a still intact, abandoned line. So…another one wondering of its demise eh?
