Comments on: The old steel Canadian Pacific Railway steel water tower at Blyth, ON, located along the Goderich Subdivision, has been demolished. Towering over the Guelph to Goderich Rail Trail, work to remove the privately owned structure began on May 21, finishing up the following week. Across town from the former CPR yard, both the CNR and CPR (relocated) station remain in town.

Back in the 70s I shot this with the station as well; and I don’t know if I took any images of the tower after that. Shame on me.
I never thought it would be removed though. I thought it would be part of the town’s heritage.

I reached out to North Huron and all they know is the owner decided to remove it. Private owner, but not confirmed if individual or organization/group.

I shot this thing in May 2022 when I went to get my dog from a rescue nearby. I took a minute to drive in and get the shot – you can see it better when there’s minimal foliage too.

Strange they tore it down, it’s solid metal..
