Comments on: The old Yahk station is long gone, as is a lot of the town. There used to be a water tower just to the west of the station but both have been razed and only transmission tower(s) are on the location now. The only thing the community is known for now is the “I’ve Been To Yahk and Back” tee shirts that have been sold at a local store for at least 50 years now. CP still carries out a lot of switching in the adjacent yard here though.

Feel welcome to use this photo,Shelia !!! Good Luck with the book!!
An amusing personal story is that some years ago, as in the mid-1980s, I was walking in Spencer Park in Burlington, Ontario, where I lived at the time, wearing my blue T-Shirt which read: I've Been To Yahk and Back". I bought this at the small store in Yahk. What are the odds that someone walking toward me was wearing the exact same T-shirt in the same colour!!!? Bought, of course, at the same store.
We had some good laughs over that. :o)

Hi, I tried to submit a message to apply for permission to use this photo in a book I am publishing for my family. Possibly because I am not a Canadian citizen it would not send. I am a citizen of the USA and reside in Lacey, Washington, USA. It is a book of my Canadian born Grandmother's memoirs and she mentions the Yaht Train Station when she took a train to the United States in 1913 when she was twelve. By the way her, Great Grandfather was Thomas Phillips, Phillips Square in Montreal. Any help in submitting my request to the right individuals would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

This is a quirky little town where, for years, the Spokane International mixed train connected wit CP. Now, huge UP / CP freights come through here from the U.S. to Cranbrook and east.

Ya, I did get a shirt!!! Blue with white lettering. What was amazing was I went down to Burlington along the lakeside park (Spencer Smith) wearing this shirt not long after and I met a guy wearing the same damn thing !!! Of course we had to talk and laugh about it. We had both bought them at the same variety store out there. No, I don't still have it :o) Yeah, not only 40+ years ago, but I kinda outgrew it. :o)
