Comments on: The old Zorra station has been gone a long time. The story I heard concerning it’s demise was CP dug a big pit, broke down the structure and shoveled the remains into it. Quick and easy. This was once the junction of the Galt sub and the line from St. Marys thru to Ingersoll; the north portion removed 1995 and the south to Ingersoll in 1987. Eastbound mixed freight, led by CP 5904 and 5501 in an older paint scheme, has an interesting mix we do not see any more. Truck trailers on flat cars. Forty-foot boxcars, exposed auto cars, and so on. Pity it is such a dull day. The track on the left is the lead into the LaFarge (Canada Cement) plant behind me.

The very idea of you hanging onto a car on a four mile ride down to Ingersoll in the rain makes me think you were not paid enough.

Two of the times I went to Ingersoll North were with cars of lumber for the ramp at Ingersoll. This took place when I was on a Toronto to London mainline fright. We parked our train at Zorra to be "babysat" by the tail end crew, while the poor head end brakeman (me) rode the car 4 miles to the spot in Ingersoll. One time I recall doing that, it poured rail the whole time. What a miserable ride that was hanging on the side of a bulkhead flat.

Another great shot Arnold. I'm so happy that you & others have captured history in your photo graphs. A point of clarification, the track to the left is the St. Mary's Sub main track to Ingersoll North. For those unaware, CP accessed Ingersoll separately on both sides of the CN mainline. Canada Cement could be switched from the west end off this chunk of the St.Mary's Sub, 6 axle units were prohibited account curvature. I only went down to Ingersoll North a few times between starting on CP in 1973 & it being torn up.

MEH!!!! But thanks anyway. ALL B-Days after quitting work are more of a disappointment than anything else. These are the glory years and to have them go by so quickly is very concerning. I have been goofing off for over 10 years now. I would forget B-Days if it wasn't for you young'uns. :o)
