Comments on: The only thing worse than shooting with cheap film on a grubby grey day is when it gets close to sunset and everything seems to take on a hue that makes it look even grubbier. Thats how I felt this day, but waited out an eastbound which I was told was coming into White River. This town was never much to get excited about. Still isn’t. But it was a logical place to stop overnight. Just one geezer on hand to watch CP 5682, 4735 and 5025 slow to a stop and a crew change. Now, some 40 years later; the station hasn’t changed much at all, and probably neither has anything else.

PLENTY has changed since you had the PRIVILEGE of taking this picture.

No more cabooses... no more Canadian... no more operators... no more friendly crews... no more SD40's... less than half the traffic.

Same was said for Thunder Bay too by Arnold when I went there. It wasn't that bad...but I see the huge difference between the North and South.

You seem to be getting grumpy about Northern Ontario.
White River is the half way point between Toronto and
Winnipeg.
Maybe you should spend a few days there and be the Old Geezer waiting for the trains.
Those visibility stripes on the nose of the CP power had disappeared by the time I started shooting train pictures. I wonder why the CP did away with them.
