Comments on: The ONR’s Northlander showed great promise when it was introduced and did its first run June 9, 1977. This image is but 7 weeks later, with ONR 1981 (x-1901) heading south thru Sundridge on its way to Toronto from Cochrane. Known as the “TEE” train (Trans Europe Express), the power was not up to snuff with the cold Ontario winters and such, so these power units were retired by 1980 (and scrapped 1984) with F units taking over. Upkeep of these trains was poor, ridership was weak; and the train discontinued 2012. The current Doug Ford government sure dragged its heels on its promise to reinstate this train; but word has it now new Siemens Venture trainsets will be the equipment when the train comes back on line in mid 2026. Looking forward to it !!

Arnold, after a bit more sleuthing on Google Streetview I'm fairly confident that white building top centre is the church which was located at 84 Boundary Road, Norvar.

The building was removed sometime after 2015, the property is now vacant.

The Whistle Board on the right would be for the Boundary Road crossing.

It was pointed out to me that there is some confusion over the direction and location of this train. Poor notes had me thinking I was in the Sundridge area, but perhaps this could be around Novar; and it is a "going shot" as I forgot lead and trailers both carry the number 1981. Guess that explains the lack of lights.
