Comments on: The reason I have used an older picture of an eastbound autorack is to relate the following cautionary tale. On Saturday 18th July I had returned from collecting my daughters from shopping and went to eat a sandwich by Galt Station, as I had done countless times before. A local police car passed by just as I had finished eating my sandwich. I decide as nothing was coming to move off to Brantford and drove down into Galt town centre where I was followed by the police car and “Lit up”. He politely asked for licence and insurance and ran checks, whilst my car held up traffic. He told me the reason why he had stopped me was because he had observed me in a well-known “drug area”. I was allowed to continue with no further problems but be warned! It provided my wife, who was not with us, with a great deal of amusement. I am sure she would have got me arrested!!

We had to go shopping for the wife's birthday and nothing was due according to the scanner, so we left.
Normally I see the cars parked under the bridge where they rendezvous for a chat.

I see the WRPS (Waterloo Region Police Service) cruisers at Galt quite often. I even got a shot of one next to an eastbound coming through. Made for a cool shot! John, did you leave the area as soon as you saw the cop? That may be part of the reason he followed you. That always looks suspicious in the eyes of the police...

Gang - I've been frequenting the Galt Station for years. The area isn't without its charm, so to say, and the police are down there almost every time I go down - they tend to park under the road bridge by the CP tracks. I've never had them run my plate or pull me over down there though.

I had a run-in with a local resident 10 years ago who accused me of this and that, and all I was doing was eating my Wendys and waiting for a train to come by. She had been drinking and lived in the property just across the tracks, north side by Bond St. She moved.

Most recently, CP has been hiring security at night to watch over equipment, so it appears things aren't getting better.. must be some kids getting into mischief.

Still a neat place to visit and I don't feel unsafe at the Galt Station when I go.
