Comments on: The Shed At the left of the frame, VIA 6419 and unidentified VIA passenger car (VIA 8109 economy coach I think) sit partially under the canopy of the Winnipeg train shed, while at the right, stalled CN 3884 sits on one of the shed bypass tracks. The stalled freight caused an hour and a half delay in the departure of VIA 693 The Churchill train which gave me time for a few more photos and lunch at The Forks Market behind Union Station. :-)

The B Sign with a slash is a “Block End” Sign. The sign is placed to define the limits of a “Block” in signal territory and indicates to a train crew where their authority extends. It appears this application is for a movement entering the VIA Station tracks.

Very nice Paul, my pictures of Winnipeg Station at track level are all taken from the east end, so this nice to see the west end of the station and tracks. Trust CN to hold up VIA even before departure time, let alone out somewhere on the line. Question, what do the three yellow “B’s” sign mean .

Great trackside photo! Sometimes it’s not always about what’s being photographed, but the stories that add to how the photo was captured that make it great!

I see done fencing around a portion of the shed….are they reconstructing it too, like they’ve done in Toronto’s shed at Union Station?

Thanks. That was a tough shot to get. I had to climb a steep embankment from the street below, then reach up and over a chain link fence.
With so many signs, poles, and fencing in the way it was difficult to find a good angle for a clean photo.
