Comments on: The SOO had one cabless “B” unit on their roster thru the 1990s. Here it looks somewhat of an oddity as it rolls west on train #503, as seen from the horse farm just east of Canyon Rd. It is getting late in the afternoon as SOO 763 and 6450 climb the long grade to Campbellville. The “B” was retired in 2002.

The horses at the Farm pay no attention whatsoever to the trains. But how they can stand the constant drone of the endless trucks on highway 401, which is a few dozen yards to the left of the image, is another matter. As far as the “B” unit goes, I might have seen it 3 or 4 times, but never got used to its rather unusual appearance.

I caught the 6450 on a Montreal bound Railrunner maybe 1988 or so. Never knew it existed (dumb kid), but was totally fascinated by it and never did see it again.

Why do all the good paint scheme go away?
