Comments on: The tail end brakeman was about to give, “that’ll do”, over the radio. The mixed train was making a stop in Redwater on this evening. There was 35 boy cubs taking a ride from Edmonton to here. In a few minutes, the parking lot was a buzz of excitement as they all de-trained, loudly talking about their ride. In another 15 minutes, all was quiet as they headed back home to Edmonton. What kid doesn’t like a train ride? :^) Photo taken at 20:00. Talked with the tail end brakeman for a few minutes afterwards, he was just as revved up as the kids.

As trivia for Passenger car nuts, the baggage car started life in the early 1900′s as a Pullman “Baggage / Club” designed for service on premier trains in the Northeastern U.S.

I agree completely, what a fantastic idea for a cub outing. The ride across the big wooden trestle that crosses the Sturgeon river near Gibbons would have been a highlight for sure.
