Comments on: The train still stops here
Even though the two tracks in front of the station are out of service or torn up, VIA 693 and VIA 692 the trains to and from Churchill, MB still make a scheduled stop at Dauphin, MB.
VIA 692 is pictured here during its return trip from Churchill to Winnipeg on a beautiful May 2, 2026 afternoon.
Passengers have the opportunity for a leg stretch, some fresh air, and a quick visit to the Dauphin Rail Museum located inside the majestic station building.
The station was built in 1912 by the Canadian Northern Railway to a design by architect John Schofield. It was designated a Heritage Railway Station of Canada in 1990.
The consist for VIA 693/692 on my recent trip was
VIA 6421 F40PH-2 locomotive
VIA 6455 F40PH-2 locomotive
VIA 8602 baggage car
VIA 8100 economy coach
VIA 8122 economy coach
VIA 8503 Skyline dome
VIA 8224 Chateau Roberval sleeper

Interesting angle. Back in the day when the line was 'busy' any passenger traffic could get out of the way, so to speak, of freight. I did not notice this when in Dauphin recently, as I did not want to cross tracks while a train was stopped there.
Really nice and informative shot, Paul.
