Comments on: The VIA P42DC model locomotive is one that most fans are rather tired of, seen daily in the mid-section of the country, but very few witnessed their arrival new from GE in Erie, PA. In late 2001, they were delivered onto Canadian soil by NS #445, which was a transfer from Buffalo. As this train usually arrived late day and in the early winter daylight is short, the sun was often down before the train showed. In this view, five new units are seen late day in the old Niagara Falls CN yard just after delivery, a power-only special move by one NS unit. VIA 904, 905, 906, 903 and 907 will be moved to Toronto during the wee hours.

Agree with you 100%, Mike. And take the AMTK, along with their horrendous paint scheme, with them. These things belong in a subway, underground, where one wouldn't have to look at them.

I'd rather see a shot of these being delivered over a cliff.

I'd have to agree, they do look sharper with that green tint they had when new (although the "blue" today isn't bad...). Neat catch Arnold.

Nice catch! While disagreeable, I have never grown tired of Via's P42DC's. While I much rather prefer them with the original dark green tinge and without that stupid extra headlight, I think they honestly look better than the rebuilt F40PH-2's. Unrebuilt... F40PH-2's anyday.
