Comments on: The weekend of October 23 & 24, 1965 saw the Upper Canada Railway Society run an excursion on each of the class one railways. The Sunday trip running on the Canadian National behind CNR CPA-16-5 6704 and FPA-4 6774 departed Toronto Union station for Georgetown via the Weston and Halton Subs, before heading up to Allandale along the Beeton Sub returning to Union Station via the Newmarket. Here, the train passes approaches the diamond at Inglewood.

The excursion further up the line in Tottenham.

The Saturday excursion on the Canadian Pacific ran from Toronto – Hamilton – Guelph Junction – Orangeville – Toronto, seen here at Cataract.

Thank you everyone for your comments, they are much appreciated, and many thanks to my fellow UCRS Train Trip Committee members who collaborated to run the Society’s first all-diesel excursion weekend. It was a gamble whether it would be the success that it was without one of the two excursions being steam powered. The Committee thought travelling over the CNR Beeton Sub would be an interesting “companion” trip to the previous day’s CPR excursion to Orangeville, both trips with a scheduled stop at Inglewood “Union” Station, but arriving on two different railways. It was that creative planning that resulted in this photo opportunity. Also, many thanks to Jacob Patterson for editing and posting, John
