Comments on: The year 1995 started off on a rather sad note for all rail commuters on VIA and Amtrak who began their day using Grimsby’s fancy old station. For on the eve of the last day of 1994, an electrical fire destroyed this well loved landmark. Here, we see the morning train stopping for passengers who no doubt feel distressed over seeing the remains of one of the most photographed railroad structures in the province. I was in high school then, and never knew that CN's Grimsby station was distinguished as being one of the most photographed buildings in Ontario! Wish I did know about it. I would've loved getting pictures. You've captured the 'somber' mood well here Arnold. Years later, I did finally make it back to Grimsby and visited the antique store inside the old GWR station. The had a set of modern crossbucks, but I inquired if it was for sale. No go, so went to leave and noticed the Grimsby namesign had blown off the VIA shelter.... I am not sure how I missed this image, but tahtw as a very sad time indeed.
