Comments on: There may have been pride in Amtrak when it started up in 1971, but it appears that when the money began to run out, so did the pride. Witness this filthy E unit 425 leading the “Rainbow” to the USA on an otherwise bright and clean late summer afternoon. Fortunately Amtrak eventually became successful….thanks to the United States government. The old brick office at the foot of the International Bridge shown here was moved (1982) to the Fort Erie Railroad Museum on Central Avenue to keep the CN 6218 company, which is on display there.

I wonder if the diamond and X over the windows signify anything or are just decorations?
I can’t imagine the engineer being too proud at the controls of this unit either.
An interesting capture for sure.
