Comments on: There’s been a long and continuing history of Railway photographers at Inglewood – CN continued passenger trains until around 1960 and CP until 1970. This Clayton Morgan (Doug Hately) shot in 1960 is essentially where the train in MY photo is – except on the CPR tracks not the CN. Excursions were nothing new either, witness the famous Tripleheader (Bob Ross, R.L. Kennedy collection) photo in 1960 drew thousands of people.

Stephen, to answer your question, they were two different railway excursions, both run by the Upper Canada Railway Society. The CPR one behind E8a 1802 on Sat Oct 23/65, travelled from Toronto along CN's Oakville Sub to Hamilton TH&B Station, then up the Goderich Sub to Guelph Jct., along the Galt Sub to Streetsville, and then to Orangeville. The train was wyed at Fraxa, then back to Streetsville and home on the Galt Sub. Yes, there were photostops at Cataract and Inglewood. The CNR excursion on Sun Oct 24/65 behind 6703-6773 ran to Georgetown, then up to Allandale via Inglewood, Tottenham, Beeton and Cookstown with the C liner 6703 leading (as shown in Doug Page's photo at Beeton Station). There being no wye at Allandale, the diesels ran around the train, and 6773 was leading home down the Newmarket Sub. Both trips were well attended and very gratifying to the UCRS Trip Committee. If I ever get a scanner, I will attempt to post some pictures of both trips.

Wow, CP E8.... was that the same trip as the CN CLC trip or was that a different excursion?

Here's a picture since uploaded by Doug Page of what is likely the CLC excursion at Beeton:

Thank you sir for the kind comments, I just got lucky I could go out when fall was near peak in the area. The sun came out for only one shot - this was it! And only for a couple minutes. Luck :)

Stephen, a beautiful picture, stunning colours and the Credit Valley Explorer looking its best ! Not just Ray Kennedy’s wonderful triple-header excursion graced this location, but the UCRS was here with a CP E8 trip to
Orangeville, CN CLC A + MLW A units on their way to Tottenham, Cooksville and Barrie (came home on CN’s Newmarket Sub), and of course all the Ontario Rail Association steam excursions with CP 1057, and the miraculous return of CP 136 to Owen Sound and back. My first rail visit to this site was in 1956 on CNR D1-C1-C2 returning home from Beeton with connecting train at Georgetown. All are now just good memories, as is the CVE, and thanks to you Stephen, there are many great CVE pictures, like the one above. “Thank for the memories . . .” as Bob Hope used to sing. Indeed, thank you for talent and sharing, so much appreciated !

Also this caboose was used for selling extra seats but at the time I was told to keep that on the down low as it was not approved.

They kept using it... this train really would have benefit from more coaches, then again, it was passenger liability that ultimately sunk this train.

What's interesting is once this operation shut down, so too did the Inglewood General Store.
