Comments on: These days catching a GP9 leading a train is something you don’t ignore. They have already vanished on CP and their numbers have been greatly reduced on CN over the past decade as well. Since local train 547 was relocated a number of years ago from Malport to Aldershot, catching GP9s in the lead passing through Scotch Block was a rare occurrence. This train was most likely an extra out of Aldershot heading to Toronto, with a trio of four axle Geeps up front, and the sound of them struggling up the grade was defining.

@ Tim…well they are great to photograph of course. Especially these days, but not so much fun to run I love the GP9, but not the 7000 or 7200 class. Its a pain in the butt to run with that short hood leading like i had on 570..Urghh

The train pictured above is L52331 27 which on this day was a Mac Yard-Aldershot turn. They were light power from Mac Yard to Aldershot and returned with 69 cars. Great consist!

@RLK. I worked a 524 at 2230 on the 26th. They ran a 523 in the AM, but I am not sure if they ran light or not from Mac. This shot is their eastbound move.
Today we were supposed to run light from Mac to Aldershot on 570 but we brought traffic with us and returned with Macs. I had 7070,4136, 4728, 4776 for power..urgh!!

Don’t count on numbers to designate east or wesbounds. Yes, usually eastbounds have even numbers and westbounds have odd numbers, but when it comes to trains like 523/524/570 and others that can change. Today I was a 570 both east and west. There was also an eastbound 725 out there today too. Always with railroading, nothing is as simple as it may sound
