Comments on: These little superintendent cars always made me go into a wishful dream. How cool it would be to own one and travel the rails in these converted cabs. From what I was able to find out about them, there was only 3 made. Two stationed in B.C. and one in Alberta (in their initial years). They seem to be of a little higher grade of construction than the converted boxcars made into a similar type car with platform and brake wheel only at one end. Today, 61202 is headed for Fort McMurray, where it will stay for some several days before returning.

I believe CN 61200 and CN 61201 may have been scrapped, but CN 61202 ended up in New Hampshire at the Claremont and Concord Railroad as CNRX 61202 seen here in 2001 …

So — what ever happened to these cars? Scrapped? (probably considering their age) Built into something else?- camp cars perhaps? I would like to to model one of these-but where to start?

CN 61201 HS built 1976 assigned Prince George, BC
CN 61202 HS built 1977 assigned Edmonton, AB
CN 61200-CN 61202 classed as light mainline cabooses used as (mini) Superintendent’s cars.
