Comments on: This area had its railroad beginning back in the days of the Lake Simcoe Junction Railway. Turn of the century. Eventually became Grand Trunk and then CN. The CN Sutton Sub became a spur by 1960. Service on the line ended in Aug 1979 and the tracks were pulled up beginning July 1981. This old shot gives an indication of the state of disrepair the old station was in by fall of 1976. It was very fortunate that a group with some foresight in regards to preserving the past started up the Georgina area Pioneer Village in 1975. The station, on site since 1906, was eventually moved and restored at the Village not long after this photo was taken.

Loving the old historical station shots and old now torn up lines My Mooney. I'm sure you've been to this site:

https://www.openrailwaymap.org/

The work gone into it is astounding. Now zoom into Southern Ontario and look at all the abandoned lines!! This station being saved and not demolished or a victim of arson and being moved gives me a warm feeling.

Now if I can only get my copy of 'The Train Doesn't Stop Here Anymore' by Ron Brown back...for now i'll enjoy your repertoire!

Good find and save Mr. M.
It's nice it was moved to a "village" but also good to see it where was actually in use.

The RoW I know was intact enough for a walking trail, which is what all these old lines seem to turn into.:o) I've not been up there to 'snoop' for quite a few years now.
