Comments on: This has got to be one of the odder replacement engines on the CN “lease” roster – This is the location of CN’s Metals Distribution facility in Hamilton at Parkdale Yard and is the home of CN 7304 since 2015. I photographed this engine, SSRX 911 a couple times at LDS in Sarnia, and this unit is now in service at this CN facility as 7304 has seemingly been sidelined. What’s the connection with LDS and CN’s Metals facility in Hamilton? Well, LDS was the company that rebuilt 7304 after a cracked block sidelined it in 2014. Perhaps 7304 needs more work? 7304 was still there Sunday parked to the side. We’ll just wait and see what happens.

Brad, clearly CN doesn't have anything else that will fit in that building -I suspect this is why. Has to be a smaller switcher.

Thanks Tim for info - will hope to see this next "not going to Sarnia, i'm in Sarnia" trip. October 5/6th :)

Interesting to note, all but confirmed that (former) CN 7316 long parked at LDS in CN paint has been coated in primer. Waiting to see what scheme it gets painted in. (At one point the unit was destined for CANDO, but that deal may have fallen through as this was years ago). Point here is there's one less in CN paint - not many left!

I've only seen Flexicoils on CN and CP 1200RS. Intersting to see them on a 900! Also I was wondering too Steve, why not a GP9 on thero roster? But in thinking, those work horses still do a lot of bigger yard and road service and as we know leasing 20 some odd GATX units..so I'm 'guessing' they can't spare one for 'smaller' work.

I am used to seeing these trucks on 1200hp end cab road switchers and the like (the higher hp end cabs). There was some sw900's made for BC Hydro that have flexicoil trucks (one happens to be numbered 911, which also has a 1000hp engine), but I believe they are all accounted for. I do not have a current guide and cannot find any info that makes sense on the SSRX 911 (history). As well, I was not able to find if any other sw900's came with flexi's. Thus I assumed they were adopted from some other unit that was scrapped. This is internet info, so buyer beware. :-)
