Comments on: This is a scan of a Gord Taylor photo showing CP’s early Roadrailer operation. There was no easy way to turn power in the NS Yard in Detroit and on this day, the power was operated in reverse from Detroit to Lambton Yard in the West Toronto area. Note also the adapter car, versus the later coupler mate. This train is comprised of the early equipment used on the operation, with the adapter car & each trailer having an attached single railway axle instead of separate railway “bogies” or trucks.

CP did not want to pay Conrail to why the single unit in Detroit, which lead to the castration of a handful of C424's and RS18's to become road slug control cabs, alleviating the need to wye.
