Comments on: This is definitely a lash up I figured I would never see, but lately it seems anything is possible. Hamilton yard lately has become an interesting place to catch the unexpected. A few years ago it seemed we had most likely seen the end for CN’s unique GMD-1′s, but thankfully, especially in Southern Ontario that isn’t the case. I’m not complaining about GTW painted units adding some colour to the sea of black on CN either. Here we see a pretty unique consist throttling up and heading into the yard to grab another cut of cars, while adding to Hamilton’s fresh and clean air, LOL!

1438 is in Dansville, 1412 just left North Bay after work and another is enroute to North Bay... for what though we don't know. The fact they are getting work at shops is a good sign...

Could theoretically get three beltpack units all on the triple set too when there is an abundance of them here. In chatting with Mark earlier this morning, we remembered there is precedence for it. 9416-4719-7032 ran as a set in June 2020.

Also 1438 going over to Dansville had me wondering if the day is coming... Hopefully it's for something other than beltpack though.

Correct, however you just never know. Sarnia had a pair together, more than once.. (I saw it once with GTW 6221 and 6420, 6221 being non RCLS)

there are other GTW's that haven't showed up here in a while but often make it to Sarnia.

I'd agree the odds are stacked against it. Unless GMD1's get RCLS>.....(!)

@SCH, I thought about that once too. GTW 6420 and 5849 were here pretty close together. But both are belt pack so the chances of them being together are slim. Happened before, but rarely. A third GMD1 is also possible but Hamilton can have a maximum of 3 non-belt pack units, with a double and triple set. None of the belt packs are GMD-1s (yet, maybe..) so a triple GMD-1 set working Hamilton is basically impossible. Lots of possibilities for these scenarios to happen in the yard, but not down the hole most likely. Just some things others may not have thought about.

@KF I don't think anyone would haha.

@SCH: Would you be able to handle it if there's a third GMD1? :)

Or a 2'nd gtw (like Sarnia had a year and a half ago more than once) or a 3rd gmd1.

I've joked with a couple of friends that every time I think CN can't make a better consist in Hamilton, I'm almost immediately proven wrong. I'm convinced 7600 will be here sooner rather then later haha. Certainly has drawn more then a few down to Hamilton, despite our fresh and clean air!
