<title>Comments on: This is one of those shots that doesn&#8217;t seem as long ago as it was. This is my last shot of a series following the pulp train from Mac Yd. The light was getting weak, evident by the numberboards. In this view from the St. Paul St W overpass, the train is making good time. CN 2313 and 2030 are the power. Interesting for the locals to note in this shot, the St. Catharines station has yet to acquire that addition on the far end which was a bingo hall for many years and now is a church hall of sorts. The rail siding on the left is long gone. And of course the station has been upgraded to GO specifications. Very little evidence remains of the once-busy yard that was in the background behind the station and stretching out to Louth St. In this view, once can see a bit of rolling stock back there.
The pulpwood ended up at the big Pulp and Paper mill in Thorold South. That plant recently shut down. To think the mill once received loads of wood like this every day, and now it is kaput. :o(</title>
