Comments on: This is the result of a nasty bitter morning. It was 3F and windy in Grimsby and it was a long wait at the Grimsby kiosk for CN 422 to make the scene. Apparently second unit (of two) had crapped out and the train was running about 22 MPH. AMTK was very one hour late as well. It can be seen waiting at Nelles Rd where the two tracks become one, and when 422 clears it and 421, not far behind, can continue east. Nice to see the “Flying J”, which is why I bothered escaping the warm confines of home in the first place. Power on train was CN 3023 and 3833.

No issues between Burlington West and Ash. 16 mph over the Detector at M-46, similar speed by me at M-42 and not working too hard, a meet with E271 at Ash.

I was out at bayview waiting for this guy really patiently and any radio chatter about this I took a keen interest in as they were my primary subject. When they got to Hamilton 421 was there and assisted them a little bit – they noted squealing brakes mid train despite the 422 crew saying there was zero brake application on their end.

So stop, full release at Hamilton to try and knock them all off, and a full inspection at Aldershot on T2 by the conductor with a ride back to the head end and I think they got it fixed. 421 noted they’ll never make the hill the way they were…

They passed Bayview at about 12:30 PM and based on your photo, the Amtrak which was 1 hour late meant they took about 2 hours to go from Grimsby to Aldershot!
