Comments on: This photo is a great example of how a time span of 8 years can really make a difference in the railway industry. Taken down in the “Hammer” in October 2008, at Stuart St. Yard, rests quite the variety of power. From left to right: RLK 3873, CN 7001, RLK 4200 & slug RLK 1200 (behind the CN locomotive, out of view, uncoupled), RLK 4095 (now with GEXR and no longer with “RailAmerica” decals), GEXR 3835 (coupled to the 4095, out of view) and GEXR 3856. Wow! Many of the locomotives pictured here are no longer in Ontario in operation. Maybe CN 7001 is on the CN roster still, and RLK 4095 is, as of lately, coupled to QGRY 2008 powering the GEXR locals (518 and 580). This scene pictured here has also changed significantly, as evidence, see other RP.ca contributors’ recent shots of this area. I will admit, I do not have the extensive locomotive history knowledge like others do, for various reasons that I won’t get into here. So, I welcome others to discuss their histories, if they see fit.

GEXR 3856 became RLK 2054 and is on the OVR

GEXR 3835 will be GEXR 2074, but I don’t believe it’s returning to GEXR, OVR budgeted the rebuild so it’s likely to return to OVR with GEXR lettering.

RLK 3873 is back in Hamilton, now as RLHH 2081.

The GEXR 3835 should be returning to the GEXR but in orange paint and with a new number! GEXR 2071 iirc..
