Comments on: This photo is taken between the CP and CN bridges at Port Hope, looking west. At the extreme left we can see two CN ‘big hooks’ working on a derailment at the west end of their bridge. The train at the extreme right is No. 60, the morning Rapido with engine 6534 (out of the picture). Coupled to the tail end of No. 60 is the Lakeshore, No. 50 and they are moving through the interchange track to move as one train. The engines on 50 are about at the interchange switch on the CP side. I’m guessing they would go back to CN rails at Brighton.I posted another detour taken the same day, Aug.7,1970, of a westbound CN express train on CP’s bridge.

The spur would be a remnant of the port Hope, Lindsay & Beaverton that ran down to the port. There was a connection to the Bellevile sub that passed under the CP bridge. Note the crossbucks where the people are.
