Comments on: This Photo was taken at The Bartlett Avenue crossing on the Canadian Pacific North Toronto Subdivision. CP 650 is a Eastbound Loaded Ethanol Train from Marquette, Michigan to Albany, New York, it runs ass needed. This train is normally around 100 cars, it consists of Ethanol tanks and two buffer cars guarding each engine at each end of the train. 650 has brought a fair amount of foreign power to Toronto so far in 2020. We have seen Union Pacific, Norfolk Southern, Kansas City Southern, Ferromex. Hope you enjoy!

I saw one come through Chesterton, Indiana on the Chicago line when I was passing through in Aug 2018, so yes definitely originate much further west.

I was looking at the trip from Marquette and something seemed off. So they come from North Dakota via Chicago through Detroit then straight shot to Montreal? Makes sense.

Who produces ethanol in Marquette MI?
There's something just not correct about the origin of 650.

It goes east to Montreal, then down the CP-owned D&H, thus allowing CP to keep an all-CP routing and not having to split the revenue with another railway.

Very nice. What is the routing for 650? I wonder why it goes East through Toronto? Looking at the map it looks like the best route would be ironically along the Huron Western from the Soo then over to Mactier sub then West Then East through Hamilton to the States to Albany. I'm guessing via Montreal? I could be wrong.

Nice catch Jacob! Glad your photo made it! Hopefully once Covid19 is under control, I myself will be able to join you again for a day’s outing here on the North Toronto Sub! I gotta catch some of 650s foreign power myself!
