Comments on: This seemed like an appropriate setting for Niagara Region railroading.The recent years have not been kind to the rails in the area, with yards closed, trains cancelled and some railroads simply leaving the area for good. Clifton was once a busy area with traffic relatively busy on both Grimsby and Stamford subdivisions. Today the large yard just ahead in Niagara Falls is completely abandoned with only the mainline surviving. All local rail served industries in the area too are now history. The weeds here are definitely taking over as train 421 leaves the Grimsby sub. for the Stamford sub. Years ago I shot locals and even the Norfolk Southern trains here along with Several CN through trains and VIA/Amtrak trains. A lot has changed and currently CN 421/422 are the only freight trains that regularly roll through the area. Used about a dozen or so empty pellet hoppers for reachers when I saw it done. No shots to be had at Oleo itself so it's not something I have pursued since. This was (still is?) done weekly on Mondays, but I can't speak to the predictability of this move since 531 was cancelled a while back, as things have been less predictable since. They quite often run an extra down there now as one of the local job from what I've been told but again I have no idea if patterns have held or not.
