The line to Sutton and Jackson&#8217;s Point (Lake Simcoe) opened in 1877 as the Lake Simcoe Junction Railway, which ran off of the Toronto and Nipissing line. It was narrow gauge, reverting to standard gauge in 1881. The Lake Simcoe line got into fierce competition with the Toronto &amp; York Radial line which reached Jackson&#8217;s Point in the early 1900s. Traffic dwindled with the onslaught of the automobile and passenger service ended to Sutton in 1943. I understand freight service ended in 1979 &#8220;according to the books&#8221; but this shot from 1976 shows the line totally rusted and I daresay nothing had been over these rails in quite a while. Track taken up in 1981 and not long after this photo was taken the old Sutton station was saved and relocated to the Georgina Pioneer Village. My image here was taken to show there was quite a bit of track at one time.</title>

		<description>While in my last job, I attended a week of meetings at the Briars Resort in Jackson&#039;s Point and went back at a later date and I sem to remember some sort of business in what was either the Station or a replica with some sort of Passenger car next to it. Sadly he passed a couple of years ago....BUT, it triggered the memory of our station hunting trip from December 2005. We shot the old radial railway (T&amp;YRR) station, still standing although for sale at the time. By the time we got to the museum to shoot the former CN station....dark storm clouds loomed. I&#039;ll have to see if I still have a decent photo to post here in its quiet retirement.</description>

		<description>Arnold, this was in my summertime “back yard”, having spent many summer vacations down the road in a small lakeside community called Eastbourne which had its own T&amp;YRR waiting shed &amp; stop. THIS CNR station was at the end of Station St, one block west of Dalton Rd &amp; High St. There was the odd box car of lumber delivered in the late ‘50’s/early ‘60’s, and CN Express shipments (by truck) could be claimed/sent from the station. Although there were many summertime visits, never saw a train in Sutton. Thanks for sharing, John</description>
