I moved to Barrie in 1988. At that point I don't think there was any traffic on this spur. The General Tire plant at the end of the spur closed around 1990. Around 1995 the rails were severed south of Brock Street for some watermain work. CN did not reinstall the rails. Around 1990 the rails were reinstalled by BCRY and one of the former General Tire spurs was reconfigured for Barrie Metals. Some Gondola loads of steel were brought in. I only saw this occur once. In 2005 the spur was installed behind Western Mechanical to serve the composite lumber plant. This is the only new customer BCRY has landed that I am aware of and they closed within a couple of years. Old maps show a spur in this location to serve Hill Refrigeration. They are long gone.
