Comments on: Those of you that have taken up capturing trains in their environment in the past couple of years are probably disappointed that views such as this one are only 5 years old. How times have changed. We have gone from colourful lashups such as this #246 to today’s mostly pairs of grimy GEs that look like they were painted at a child’s art class. Sitting at Kinnear, and about ready to depart southward/eastward is SOO 6050, HLCX 7003, CEFX 3163, CP 5958 and HLCX 7193. Incidentally, this is the first image I have offered that was shot using a Mamiya RB67. Great quality for a film camera. I’m using Fuji 400 ISO 120 roll film. Ten frames to a roll. Also, one of the reasons we are seeing the same old, same old as power over CP is due to the downturn in traffic (as in oil) and the effects of EHH, over 665 locomotives are currently stored around the CP system.

You’re exactly right, Snake. What is good for the company is usually not good for us track side fans who have no financial interest in the company. This is why I enjoyed the D&H so much for so many years. CP (STLH)funneled all the ‘junkers’ to the Eastern US Region. And then when the financial statements were read; the D&H was losing. Small wonder. The decrepit motive power had on purpose a lot to do with it.

What I see here is 3 units too many…and gas guzzler junkers to boot….of course this was 2011 before the revolution….Take these three excess units times all the other trains and there’s part of your 665 units How much more efficient it is today !
