<title>Comments on: Three distinct car bodies

   Three builders

MLW 1960 built RS-18m CN #3152, one of six modified (1967) for Tempo train service ( 3152 renumbered from CN 3856), geared for 80 m.p.h., engine ALCO designed 251B V12.

BBD 1980 built LRC-2 VIA #6900 geared 125 m.p.h., engine modified by MLW from an ALCO design 16-251F rated at 3700 H.P.

   MLW 1959 built FPA-4 VIA #6784 ( ex CN 6784) geared 93 m.p.h., engine ALCO designed 251B V12.

Inside the CN Spadina Roundhouse, January 23, 1983 Kodachrome by S.Danko.

What&#8217;s interesting: in 1982-3 VIA modified some Tempo cars electrical to 480 volts from 575 volts allowing the LRC 6900 series units to power the Tempo trains. VIA returned the six leased RS-18m&#8217;s to CN, ending the RS-18m&#8217;s careers. In 1983 two RS-18m&#8217;s were leased to GO Transit: CN 3152 and 3154. All RS-18m&#8217;s retired by the end of 1983.
