Comments on: Three-year old TTC CLRV 4062 heads west on Fleet Street west of Bathurst on a Rt.521 Exhibition East run for the CNE’s Exhibition Loop, passing by the looming Molson’s Brewery plant on Fleet Street. Part of Toronto’s at-the-time new fleet of modern CLRV streetcars, 4062 would enjoy a nearly 35 year career until it was retired in 2015 after a collision with a bus. The old streetcar fleet was on the way out for new Bombardier-built cars, so any heavy repairs weren’t on the books.

The Molson Fleet Street Brewery was built in 1955 on Toronto’s harbourfront and expanded in the 1970′s. It was served by rail off CPR’s old “Wharf Lead” (ex-TG&B) that ran south from Parkdale through Liberty Village. Information suggests the plant closed in 1989 due to a company reorganization following the merger between Molson and Carling O’Keefe. In the years following, the mothballed plant was used for TV and movie shoots. There were plans to turn it into a telecommunications hub building, but they fell through, and the plant was eventually demolished in 2006 for new condo towers.
