Comments on: Try as I may, I just could not quite pin-point the location of this shot. So, took a stab at it. Belledune.
The Matapedia & Gulf Railway was only in business under this name from 1998 to 2008. On Nov 3, 2008, CN purchased NBEC (New Brunswick East Coast) and the CFMG as well as the Ottawa Central in Ontario and a small road at Matane, Quebec from the Quebec Railway Corporation and that was it for the CFMG.
Second unit behind 6903 is 6909. These SD40s were previously CN 5057 and 5070, acquired in 1999.

Thanks. I did not know what had become of them, but it would be logical CN would have had their use of such old (read: tired) engines.

Great shot! I heard CN scrapped these units pretty quick after take over. Glad I shot a couple many years ago.

Assuming CN retired these after acquisition - or did they make it that long?
