Comments on: TTC PCC 4341 (A6-class, built by CC&F in 1947/48) operating on the Dundas route bound for Runnymede Loop, heads westbound on Dundas at Victoria through the street’s jog between Bond Street and Yonge Street, nearing the stop at Yonge (a major interchange point, as it connected with the Yonge subway line – note stairwell at left). Under demolition in the background by Greenspoon is the old O’Keefe’s Brewery, that nearby Ryerson University purchased in 1966. It was demolished and replaced with a parking lot, that became a parking garage and student bookstore, that had the commercial/retail development 10 Dundas East built on top of it (in exchange for Ryerson using some of the AMC theatres as lecture halls). Most of the old buildings in the background along the east side of Victoria remain in one form or another today, and to the right out of frame is the original “Dundas Square” block of retail buildings. Notable mentions to to the Canada Centennial 1867-1967 markings on the metal trash bin, the green Daily Star box, what appears to be a Mercury Monterey, and the southbound only markings for this Dundas station entrance (one had to enter the stairwells on the east side of Yonge Street for southbound trains, and the west side one for northbound trains – something that still hasn’t been remedied today). You have your directions backwards, Dan. East side stairwells lead to the northbound trains, west side to the southbound ones.

They did finally fix the access issue a little while back, in concert with some of the more recent renovations at the north end of the Eaton Centre.
