In 1903, Turtle Mountain gave way, sending 110 million tonnes of rock into the valley, burying part of the town of Frank and the CP mainline. Within 3 weeks, the CPR had reopened the line and the town of Frank was relocated away from the mountain. 122 years later the remnants of the slide provide a constant reminder of the tragedy which claimed 70-90 lives.
