Comments on: Unfortunately, I suppose, it was a bit of a downer to be up in these northern parts of Manitoba on a day that was drizzly and dull. But on the “bright” side, this shot otherwise would have been almost directly into the sun.
Twice weekly Keewatin Railway’s mixed train runs from The Pas to Pukatawagan, an isolated town that relies on the railroad for its very existence. The Mixed brings supplies, building materials, vehicles as well as an opportunity for some of the town folk to ride it back south to The Pas for shopping trips.
In this view, PRLX 2269 and 2265 power the Mixed across Manitoba highway #10 (route to Flin Flon) as it heads northward after a stop at Cranberry Portage to pick up three gons and a few passengers.

Great scene, Arnold. Dreary days can be great for those otherwise backlit operations.

Those coaches are stored awaiting new coaches. I'm wondering when they will show up and what they are going to do with the first ones. It is hard to believe coaches can be ordered, overhauled and painted without any of the buyers even looking in them.

Great work covering this. I still wonder how they will load people onto those high platform coaches.

What a great shot Arnold!
If all goes as planned at KRC those ex-VIA, nee-CN passenger cars won't be in active service much longer now that the new locomotives and bi-level coaches have arrived in The Pas.
