Comments on: UP 4614, and UP 9241 rest in St. Thomas in better times, the building in the background, used for both NS and CN crews is now abandoned and boarded up, the sign long gone. As usual I wanted a pair of NS units.. but kept rolling UP. I don’t mind this photo now.. both of these are probably endangered or gone now.

Yeah, I was somewhat “aggressively” going after NS in this period. But I only went out every other week or so.. I did well but if I knew what I did now things would have been quite different

Our chase was great though and I got many keepers, some of my best of NS in Ontario actually.

You should.. I went to St. Thomas in 2005 and found two sets of power laying over.. one had a CNO&TP high hood unit paired with another geep.. and a pair of 6 axles.. there was an extra that ran with really nice power and we were all none the wiser – you just didn’t get everything because it was so common.

Indeed…. you had it good there Railfan97. It was mecca. How many times you had access to high hood units… tonnes of foreign power.. conrail.. i made the trip often but wish I did more. Plus CN still ran to Ridgetown once a week
