Comments on: Up at Parry Sound. Across from the old CP station on Avenue Rd. This is what I liked so much about being able to hang around here. Numerous employees, all friendly fellas, and they would give a ‘heads-up’ for when there was a North (West) bound train on the approach in order I could cross the tracks and take up position for a photo. Pity it seems to always be overcast when I am around there though :o) As seen from my position up on the rocks, Richard Bertrand hands up the paperwork as CP 5735 and 5618 slows. Typical ‘busy’ day for the guys. Now, however, the little yard is gone, the passing track is gone, and the station, after being empty for many years, has taken a new lease on life as a Gift Shop/Art Gallery. At least I hope it still is.

It was a wonderful place to sit around and talk, and get get insider knowledge. Those were probably the best years of railroading; it had a human side still, and liability paranoia hadn’t invaded the landscape.
