Comments on: Very fresh looking CP Rail wooden caboose 437124 (a “van” in CP parlance) tags along on the rear of a CP local freight passing through the Weston area of Toronto on CP’s MacTier Sub. With a crewmember riding the rear porch, it’s unclear if it’s trailing the train or leading on a backup move, but leading he’d need an air whistle hooked up to the trainline to signal for the crossings. That old CP 40′ double door boxcar with both doors open may be enroute for spotting at a local customer. It’s hard to place this shot, but it appears to be just south of King Street grade crossing, north of GO/CN’s Weston Station. The tracks through this corridor of Weston at the time included the two CP MacTier Sub mainlines, a CN-CP interchange track just in front of the caboose, a CN customs/bond/team/service track in the foreground, and CN’s Weston Sub mainline along with a passing siding (both would be in the foreground at the bottom of this photo, out of frame).
