Comments on: VIA 6516 and 6628 is northbound to Sudbury from Toronto with the T.O. section of the Canadian which will meet up with the Montreal portion of same at Sudbury Jct. This is a little bit of a different view than usually seen of this train as it rolls over the huge Parry Sound trestle, into the curve and a stop at the CP Station. This location is obscured by foliage and an impossible shot nowadays. Interesting fact: VIA 6516 became Conway Scenic (NH) 6516 and is currently on PanAm Rwys as their #2 on business trains.

This was actually almost early evening. The northbound arrived around 530PM and the S/B was scheduled thru just after noonhour. When things went right, one could arrive just before dinner NB, take a motel within walking distance, and then go back to the GTA around noon next day. Somebody from VIA must have seen the sensibility in this. For now, the trains do not run daily and they stop in the Sound at some ungodly hour of the night. At least that is how I understand it. One cannot even get a printed schedule any more.

Now that's a very cool shot. What time of day was that? When I rode the Canadian in '64 I thought it departed Toronto in the evening.

That's brilliant! That would have been worth the short stroll from the station. It's a pity so many great shots are lost through overgrowth; the Spiral Tunnels being the most frustrating IMHO.
