Comments on: Via F40PH 6438 leads train #172 eastbound downhill past the Dundas station site. This is a transition era photo – the transition between steam heat and electric heat after the delivery of the HEP-equipped F40PHs. Until they had enough HEP-equipped cars to meet demand Via had to drag steam generator cars around to heat cars.

Yeah, they had to drag those steam genny’s around but compared to the roar that comes out of the HEP, I will take the ultra quiet steam generator. Thanks for sharing your photo.
