Comments on: VIA FP9′s #6530 & #6536 (in an unusual paint scheme) sandwiching a steam generator car at VIA’s Toronto Maintenance Center. In the 1990′s the Federal Conservatives enacted a round of draconian funding cuts resulting in a massive reduction of VIA Rail services (and retirement of first generation power). History would repeat itself 2 decades later with another round of cuts under the current Conservative government. Note the large number of CN boxcars in the background, and former CN steam heated passenger cars (including a combine) & RDC’s in the foreground.
