Comments on: VIA Rail’s Saskatoon, SK station looks fresh and clean in the June 3, 2002 photo. I had stepped off of VIA #1 The Canadian, as I do at every stop, for some fresh air, walking exercise, and photos. Todays weather was amazing and allowed for some great shots at the station, on the platform, and of the CN yard and maintenance complex.

Good morning John.
I believe it is a VIA Rail owned building.
The station was declared a heritage railway station by the federal government in 1996.
It is equipped with a ticket counter, and waiting room.
The station was built by CN in 1964 in the International Style, as part of the Chappell rail yards. It was considered a union station replacing the Old Canadian Pacific Saskatoon Railway Station.
Looks like a small school building to me. :-)

Paul, this station really looks much more like a factory than a passenger train station, but it does look neat and clean, and love the red station sign with white lettering - it’s certainly not in VIA colours ! Is it owned by VIA ? I doubt it would be owned by a preservation group. Thanks for posting, John
