Comments on: Wandering down to Toronto, specifically around the sprawling facility as seen from the Spadina bridge; one could see a vast array of locomotives most days. Here is a typical view from a Wednesday afternoon in late Sept 1976. Can be seen; from the left: CN 1323 & 1249. In the rear: CN 4103 and an unidentified S-13. In front, 8521 and 8514. And in a row along the foreground are: CN 4567, 4519, 8226, 8228, 8227 and 8229 and almost out of sight, 8220. The MLW S-7 8200 series seen here were used mostly in and around the Spadina terminal, helping with the make up of CN passenger trains. All these units were gone from the roster by 1985. Note location of image, as base of CN Tower can be seen in upper left.

Wonderful picture Arnold, a great “gaggle” of yard switchers and local freight power. In addition to 8521 and 8514 in the background, 8516 is tucked in between 8226 & 8228, you can see the red cab of 8516 with its different roof style compared with the 8220’s. Thanks for recording a little bit oh history – today everything gone but the CN Tower. Thanks for posting, and wow , 2704 views !! John

What’s the Green unit in the back? Was GO around then? Great shot as always. Miss those days especially going up the tower and looking down at the ‘toy trains’.
