Comments on: Was at the Parry Sound CP station on a rather hot afternoon for a spell; all quiet. Waiting a work train coming up from MacTier. Here it is rounding the curve toward the station having just crossed the Parry Sound trestle. Do not recall where it was headed. CP 4742 the power, with an old (1960)Spreader leading, #402881. Rather tired looking thing. The Canadian Trackside Guide states this relic is still around, now assigned to Binghamton !

CP 402881 is a Jordan Roadmaster spreader, serial number 1185, built in 1960. It is equipped with a front cab, low front blade, straight wings, air cylinder operation, and high rear platform. It was rebuilt and upgraded to diesel powered hydraulic cylinder operation at Weston Shops in late 2015/early 2016.

Jordan spreaders were handy equipment all year round: when they weren't plowing yards and sidings out in the winter, they were used for cutting ditches and spreading ballast in the warmer months.
